Sky Bar @ Lebua, Silom, Bangkok
Sky Bar @ Lebua Review - What to Expect
Bangkok has it’s fair share of roof top bars but Sky Bar on top of ’lebua at State Tower’ is possibly the most well known of all of them largely thanks to it’s appearance in the Hangover Part II, or maybe due to the numerous awards it has won over the years.
Offering fantastic, although slightly giddying, views over northern Bangkok and the Chao Phraya River from the 64th floor of the Lebua hotel some 820 feet skyward there is no entrance fee to visit Sky Bar although the impressive range of drinks and cocktails are quite pricey by Bangkok standards. It’s also worth noting is that there is a strictly enforced dress code that doesn’t allow access to those wearing shorts and sandals.
Once you have taken in the breathtaking views or if the Sky Bar is too busy and crowded, you could head down one floor to Distil, a more chilled indoor bar with an outdoor terrace that features similarly commanding views, the same drinks menu and seats too!
Lebua also has four restaurants if you feel like making a night of it, including Mediterranean cuisine at Sirocco, Western-Asian fusion at Mezzaluna located within the gold dome itself, creative pan-Asian at Breeze on the 52nd floor, and a mix of Lebanese, Indian, Thai and pizza at Cafe Mozu on a lower floor next to the hotel pool.
The Lebua at State Tower hotel is located at the corner of Silom road and Charoen Krung road. The main entrance is on Silom and you’ll need to walk through the giant, empty ground floor to reach the elevators. From Saphan Taksin BTS station, take exit 3 and walk straight at the bottom of the stairs, then turn left on to Charoen Krung Road. Walk north for about 200 metres, crossing the street when possible, then take a right on Silom and the State Tower entrance will be on the right.
Sky Bar is well worth a visit if only for a couple of drinks and the novelty.
